This week, the 5th grade music students began working on a music program for the night of November 19th. For the next several weeks, we will be using music class time to work on a short program called “Broadway Beat.” With performance being part of the Colorado State music standards, all 5th graders are expected to participate in this program that is on the night of Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00 pm. That night, students will need to meet in their classrooms at 5:30 pm. If there is a conflict because your child is sick that day, please contact me by phone or email so that an alternate grade can be arranged for your child after the program.
To match our Broadway theme, students will need to wear jeans and the assigned SOLID colored shirt ALL DAY for BOTH the dress rehearsal performance and the night performance for parents. Hobby Lobby and Michaels (in the t-shirt craft section) are always a great place to find solid colored t-shirts for a very cheap price. Here are the assigned colors:
BROWNFIELD’S CLASS—SOLID BLACK SHIRT (no writing or pictures)
GRABER’S CLASS—SOLID WHITE SHIRT (no writing or pictures)
MAGNO’S CLASS—SOLID YELLOW SHIRT (no writing or pictures)
Willing students may be assigned simple speaking parts that consist of one or two sentences that need to be memorized. If your child is selected for a speaking part, it is absolutely imperative that they are present for the concert on the 19th. Please help your child to memorize their part and perform it with expression. If you have any questions you can email me at fairesc@wsd3.org
