Ready Player Create!

Do you have an interest in video game design and development? Come and get your start with Unity Game Engine, one of the top-rated game engines for beginners in 2023! You will learn how to make characters walk, jump, attack, fail, respawn and repeat in a two-dimensional, platforming style game. You will build your own amazing rendition of a game based on your creative design and interests. This class is limited to 30 students, so sign up fast. 

Math: To Infinity and Beyond

Explore the infinite possibilities of math using rich technology resources. Solve large-scale problems using data and functions, encode secret messages using cryptology, learn the best ways to become a millionaire using exponential growth in the stock market, and engineer new tech for the future. Class is limited to 30 students.

CSI: Weber

The crime scene investigation course will teach you how to use clues to solve a problem. You will learn how to look for evidence at a crime scene and how to use that evidence to figure out who might have committed the crime. You will learn about bones and how you can tell whether they are animal or human bones. You will get to dissect an owl pellet and try to figure out what kinds of animals owls eat based on bones found in the pellets. You will learn all about fingerprints, how you can find fingerprints at a crime scene and how they are used to find out who did the crime. This class is your opportunity to learn about all things related to crime scene investigation. Class limited to 40 students   

Create U

The art camp is designed for the talented student who is ready to expand his or her basic art skills by exploring a variety of art activities and media. Come learn how to create art through the printmaking processes of Relief Cut and T-shirt design. We will also do some drawing and painting. Class is limited to 60 students.  

Read. Explore. Repeat.

This course invites students who have a love for reading and writing stories to showcase and develop their skills as authors. Students will get the opportunity to break down a story from an author's perspective, learn what is needed in creating a story and begin the writing process. Throughout the process, they will learn to sharpen their creative writing skills, will understand what it takes to evaluate each other's writing and will get a glimpse of the business side of writing. They will also get the chance to publish their work for others to enjoy. Class is limited to 25 students. 

Snapshot

This introductory session is designed to assist students in enhancing their digital capture skills and gaining comfort with their digital DSLR or phone cameras by means of experiential learning. Through daily excursions in and around the school, students will gain practical experience photographing in different environments. Photographing as a group, under the supervision of their instructor, students will problem-solve capturing images in difficult locations and gain inspiration from each other. In addition to location photography, students will have the opportunity to experience making photographs in the studio. Students will learn the basics of a digital workflow and the skills of editing images. Class is limited to 20 students. 

Prerequisites:  Students must have a DSLR camera or cell phone with a built-in camera

Be a Showstopper!

Each year we bring together some of the most talented young people in our district and give them a musical theater experience in acting, singing and choreography.  The end product of the week of activities will be a live musical performance given the last night of the camp.  Students have the opportunity for individual growth through limited solo work and small speaking parts. Class is limited to 70 students.
