USU CASH CAMP
Mrs. Jensen & Mrs Hamblin. from the Business Department took some students to the USU Cash Camp. The students were introduced to the Accounting Program and learned about career options with the Accounting degree. They learned about the University Campus by taking a tour and listening to a panel of Utah State Student Advocates. The Panel shared their stories of how they were able to attend college and the opportunities they have had. They helped our students to see that no matter their circumstances college is a possibility. We finished up by doing a gingerbread activity where the student groups purchased building supplies, built houses, figured out the sales price, and what their profit is.
During Mentoring, we celebrated classes that had the highest overall GPA and Attendance!
To celebrate our amazing kids, we did a SODA BAR!

PURPLE STAR DAY 💜
Today we had the honor of celebrating Purple Star Day at our school—a meaningful day dedicated to recognizing and supporting our military-connected students and families.
Our students had an incredible opportunity to meet members of the military, learn about their service, and gain a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made to protect our country. The excitement, curiosity, and respect shown by our kids made the day truly special.
We are so grateful to the service members who took the time to visit, share their experiences, and inspire our students. It was a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and community that surrounds our military families.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day fun for our kids 💜
The K9 Unit came to show our students their dogs & our Teacher Mr. Call was the man in the suit! Brave, brave man
Our students loved the one on one with all the dogs!
UHP made a visit to teach our kids all about vehicle crashes and DUI's.
Students got to experience what a head on crash feels like - in some way 😁

5th Floor Events was kind enough to allow the students of West Field's Event Planning & Business Management Classes to visit. They were able to have a real life experience by touring the Event Center and learning some of the ins and outs of planning events and running a business. After the tour Ariel Pettigrew, business owner & planner, gave the students opportunities to ask several questions. They learned a lot about planning an event, running a business, and dealing with client/customer conflict. To top it off we returned to the school to experience a refreshment provided by our own Prostart.

Physics/Astronomy
Astronomy held a museum walk the second week of October. The students were learning some about different people, discoveries, tools and missions from the past few hundred years. The students designed one display for the museum.
Physics and AP Physics have been learning about projectile motion. They have been launching rockets, and racing cars.
Students getting prepared to race their cars to better understand concepts and calculations in displacement, velocity and acceleration.
Discovery of Quasars
The Launch of Sputnik
JADES- GS-Z14-0 (The Newest Galaxy Discovered)

Biology and Medical Forensics
Students learned about different types of blood spatter and had to use different tools/weapons to recreate that type of spatter. E.G. to simulate Medium Velocity Impact Spatter (MVIS) some students soaked a sponge in fake blood and used a hammer to repeatedly smash it, causing that type of pattern to be produced. Other students used scissors to simulate stabbing someone, causing a cast off pattern when the weapon was raised, etc. We caught the spatter on canvas boards.
LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Our Law Enforcement was out in full force at West Field High School learning about traffic stops. The students learned and demonstrated their knowledge regarding traffic stops conducted in a proper and safe manner.
They also had a great time with the Riverdale PD and Roy PD K9 Units. They learned about what K9 handlers do along with the different responsibilities police dogs have in serving their communities. Our teacher, Mr. Call got bit quite a bit!
