Because Everyone Deserves a Quality Experience in Nature
Mission Statement
The Discovery Center will be a facility and a setting for all students to safely discover the workings of nature, themselves, and to build positive relationships with each other and the natural world.
Premier Field Trip Destination
All field trips have lessons and experiences that are directly tied to the grade level Utah SEEd Standards. Let us help you meet the Science Core in an authentic, outdoor environment. The director of the Center is a former science teacher and Science Curriculum Specialist with experience in phenomenon based instruction and experiences.
Here are a few other benefits of field trips for students:
Field trips can help students to develop a love of nature. When students see plants, animals, and the environment up close, they are more likely to appreciate and protect them.
Field trips can help students to learn about different ecosystems. By visiting different places, students can learn about the different plants and animals that live in different environments.
Field trips can help students to develop their observation skills. When students are outdoors, they are constantly bombarded with new information. This can help them to develop their observation skills, which are important for learning.
Field trips can help students to develop their problem-solving skills. When students are exploring nature, they often have to come up with creative solutions to problems. This can help them to develop their problem-solving skills, which are important for life.
Field trips can help students to develop their social skills. When students are on field trips, they interact with other kids and adults. This can help them to develop their social skills, which are important for life.
Overall, field trips are a great way for students to learn and grow. They provide students with opportunities to explore nature, learn about different ecosystems, develop their observation and problem-solving skills, and develop their social skills.
Team Building and Professional Development
Swanson's North Fork Discovery Center is a great destination for Team Building or professional development. Consider the Center for work groups, youth groups, scout troops, or any other group that wants to learn and grow in an outdoor setting.
The Center has High-Speed Wifi and basic audio-visual equipment for projection and sound. The Center has one main room and two side rooms that can be used for breakouts or other grouping.
Break up training by using our great hiking trails, hatchet throwing, disc golf, archery, and outdoor team challenges. In the winter the lodge is heated and comfortable, but groups can go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing and enjoy the beauties of the Wasatch Mountains in the winter. These activities can be led by your staff or the staff at the Center. Contact the Center Director, Ben Prall, for details and questions.
