Mr. Anderson

Geoff Anderson is the Director of Choirs at Fremont High School in Plain City, where he directs 5 vocal ensembles, handbell choir, and teaches Concurrent Enrollment courses.  Geoff holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Southern Utah University (1993), and a Masters degree in Music Education from Boston University (2008).  Geoff’s experience in music ranges from instrumental and vocal performance as well as music director for many theatrical productions.  His true love is the art of choral music where he has the opportunity to work with talented high school students each day.   Geoff has had many opportunities to direct select choirs including district honor choirs, choirs for LDS General Conference and State Honor choirs.

Geoff began teaching in the fall of 1994 at the then new Fremont High School.   From that time to the present, his choirs have developed a tradition of excellence, consistently achieving superior ratings at region, state and national festivals. Fremont Choirs have also been selected to sing at state NAfME (UMEA) conferences.  Geoff received the honor of 2017 UHSAA  Music Educator of the Year and most recently received the 2020 Sorenson Legacy Award for Excellence in Arts Education by the Utah State Board of Education.

In addition to the choirs at Fremont, Geoff serves at the Associate Conductor of the Bells at Temple Square.  Here you may catch him conducting or playing handbells in weekly rehearsals at the Tabernacle on Temple Square, at the semi-annual concerts held by the bells or on “Music and the Spoken Word” broadcast.  He is an active member of the Handbell Musicians of America.

Geoff is an active member of the Utah Music Educators Association and has served on the executive board as Choral Vice President and the All-State Chair.  He currently serves as the UMEA Immediate-Past President, playing a major role in music education in the state of Utah.

Geoff  with his beautiful wife, Marita are parents of 3 amazing daughters.
