What is a CCR and why do I need to attend it with my student?

A CCR is a "College & Career Readiness" plan meeting with the counselor, student and parent. This meeting helps parents and students explore educational and career goals for the future, talk about 4 year plans for high school and discuss any support needed for academic success.

When is my student's CCR?

7th Grade CCR's are done in the classroom with the student, counselor and teacher. The counselor asks 7th graders to fill out an interest survey about future goals and aspirations. A basic introduction is discussed about future goals, career options and post secondary educational plans. Parents attend 8th and 9th grade CCR's. 7th Grade Parents don't need to attend 7th grade CCR's.

8th & 9th Grade CCR's are done individually with the student, the parent and the counselor in the counselor's office. The counseling department will send out an e-mail letting parents sign up for a 30 minute meeting. The counselor will go over next year's class options, discuss more in depth a 4 year plan, college and career goals, scholarship opportunities, and answer any questions parents might have about transitioning from one grade to the next grade level. The whole purpose of the CCR is to help parents and students understand options available to them as they move forward with their future academic and career goals.
