Access to the performing arts is essential for our students at Riverdale Elementary, especially since our school does not have any designated art or music during school hours. In a community with limited opportunities for creative expression, participating in theater builds confidence, teamwork, resilience, and self-esteem—all critical life skills. The performing arts provide a safe, supportive environment where students can express themselves, develop positive relationships, and create joyful memories, which is particularly important for those who have experienced adversity. By involving families and the community, we foster a sense of pride and connection, helping our students feel valued and empowered. Ultimately, access to the performing arts gives every child the chance to discover their voice and shine-helping them onstage, in the classroom, and in life.
