Online class registration opens February 6 for students entering 8th grade next year at Orion 

• Please refer to the Registration Presentation below for important information about class registration. 

• The Instruction sheet and Class Registration Planner form below will guide you through the class registration process.

• Orion counselors will provide instruction about the online registration process in 7th grade Math classes February 6. 

• Students who miss the registration presentation in their 7th grade Math class may attend a Registration Make-up Session on February 18.

• Placement in classes is NOT first come first served. The PowerSchool automatic scheduler randomly places students in classes.

• Students will likely NOT get into all of the elective classes they select; alternates must be selected which will be used if an elective is not available.

• Course descriptions are provided below; they are also shown next to each class on the online course selection screens.

• 8th grade class registration must be submitted online in PowerSchool by 3:30 pm on February 20, 2026. After that, the class registration portal will be closed. A student or parent can edit a student's class selections through the PowerSchool registration portal until that deadline; after that, changes to students' schedules can be requested after schedules are released in August. There is a $10 schedule change fee.

• Student schedules will be available in early August through PowerSchool.

• Students will be manually placed in the following classes by their counselors:

  • • Special Education classes (based on current IEP)

    • English Language Learning class

    • Classes requiring an audition or approval of an application

    • Other specialized classes
