Welcome to Fremont Divers Education Program
Our complete program includes:
27 hours of classroom instruction
6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction (range, road, and observation)
Official testing required for your license
Enrollment Eligibility
Age requirement: Students must be at least 15 years old.
Permit requirement: Students must hold a valid driving permit to enroll.
State Law: Students must hold a permit for at least six months before receiving a license.
Parent choice: Parents may choose the best time for their student to enroll after these requirements are met.
Our Instructors
Fremont High currently has seven certified instructors:
Mr. Flynn, Mr. Hancock, Mr. Hinds, Mr. Holmes, Mrs. Meacham, Mr. Roche, Mr. Smith
Every instructor is:
Fully certified to teach in the classroom.
Qualified to conduct road and behind-the-wheel lessons.
Authorized to administer the state road skills test.
Fully trained and CPR-certified.
Schedule and Locations
Location: All classes take place at Fremont High School. The driving range is located just west of the football field.
Class schedule: Courses run Monday through Friday for 27 total hours.
Session times: Most classes are held in the morning, with a few afternoon opportunities provided throughout the year.
Openings: Please see below for available months and the exact number of open slots in each class.
Note: Class openings change throughout the school day.
Program Fees and Policies
Course Fee: A program fee of $175 must be paid to the bookkeeper BEFORE the class begins.
Accuracy: All Driver's Ed forms must be filled out correctly and honestly.
No-Show Fee: Missing or skipping a scheduled range or behind-the-wheel day without giving at least 8 hours notice results in a $30 no-show fee.
Time Limit: Students must complete the program and obtain their driver's license within one year of entering the classroom. Failing to do so requires re-registering and paying the fee again.
Seniors: High school seniors must register and take the course by the January class of their graduating year. The entire course must be completed BEFORE graduation. After graduation, students are legally barred from using school Driver's Ed vehicles and must use a private driving institution.
Strict Attendance Policy
Maximum absences: You cannot miss more than 2 days of class.
Removal rule: If you miss more than 2 days, you will be removed from that class section and placed into another one of your choosing.
Make-up work: All missed days within a class session must be completely made up.
Technology Requirements
Fremont students: You must bring your school-issued Chromebook daily to access assignments.
Non-Fremont students: If you live within Fremont boundaries but attend a different institution, you must see our registrar about enrolling as a "non-attender" to be allowed to use a classroom Chromebook.

Note: After completing registration, please pick up and fill out a Driver’s Ed test packet (blue card). This card serves as your student's official test form, and the information provided will be securely kept on file by the school for the next seven years.
