How many days or weeks does drivers ed last?
Drivers ed has a requirement of 27 hours in the classroom. So during the school year classes will run around 90 minutes in the morning which will be a total of 18-19 days
What if I go to school outside of Fremont?
If you are within Fremont Boundaries and attend a private school, alternative school, or are home-schooled than Fremont will provide you the opportunity for drivers education. If you live outside of Fremont boundaries you must go and attend that institution.
How long does it take to complete Drivers Ed?
If you complete everything on time and schedule your time properly it could take between 2-3 months. If you don't complete your work and are not flexible with your schedule it could take much longer. Keep in mind you have up to one year from the time you enter the classroom to obtain your license. If you do not, then you must reregister AND repay for the course.
How much does it cost for Drivers Ed at Fremont?
The cost is $175. This includes classroom (theory), Behind the Wheel (which includes range, road, and observation), and the Skills Test.
Can I take the class at Fremont and then go somewhere else within the district? What if I go somewhere else privately?
If you sign up with Fremont you MUST complete the course through Fremont. However, if you take the class in Fremont, do a little behind the wheel and then decide to go to a private your hours will not count at the private institution and you will have to begin again. This is the case if you went to a private and then came to Fremont.
What do I need to bring with me to Class?
First...We use Canvas to take quizzes, answer questions, and submit homework. So a Chromebook (issued from our school district to students).
Second...A willing attitude to learn.
Do I have to attend the parent meeting? What if I or my child can't make it to the scheduled parent meeting?
YES, the parent or legal guardian AND the student driver is required to attend the parent meeting. If you cannot make it there are other opportunities. You can go to the following site to find out where and when those meetings are held.
What do I have to bring to the Range and Behind the Wheel?
For the Range, Road, and Skills Test you MUST have your valid permit on hand with you. If you have a restriction (like glasses) you must bring those to drive in our vehicles...AND its the law.
How will I know when I get to go on the road portion?
You must complete classroom and range before you go on the road. Our instructors will reach out to you via email or text. If we do text we will include your parents on the text. We will never reach out to you via text individually. There are occasions during the school year where our instructors will reach out to you in person at the school to schedule the drive.
Where do the instructors drive during the Road portion?
Our instructors have students drive in the cities, freeways, highways, and residential areas. So come prepared.
