Bridger KC Butters

May 9, 2000 - February 24, 2022

Bridger KC Butters, passed from this life on February 24, 2022, as the result of a tragic motorcycle accident. In his short, 21 years of life, Bridger accomplished much and followed his motto to “Live Fast.” Elected to student government every year at Bonneville High School, Bridger found a way to help his peers navigate the pressures of teenage life with his magnetic smile and heart bigger than the vast outdoors. Talented athletically, Bridger enjoyed snowboarding, basketball, football and hunting but had a passion for baseball. As a Team Captain at BHS he caught hold of what life was all about by mentoring his younger teammates, bonding with buddies in the outfield and batting his way through each season.

An honored graduate of Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, Bridger excelled in his classes, giving drive and determination to his love for bikes. He found his true calling in life with the wind in his face riding his motorcycle and working as a Certified Harley Davidson Technician for Tucker Speed in Ogden. Living his dream, Bridger was first to arrive and last to leave the shop where he showed total loyalty, dedication and pure excitement.

Forever the life of the party, Bridger’s crazy antics endeared him to everyone who knew him. Blessed with a mischievous sense of humor, Bridger loved a good prank, impersonating others, or the opportunity to take selfies on everyone else’s phone. He seemed to know everyone and accept them wherever they were in life.

Bridger literally “bridged” the gap between this life and the next with his last selfless act of organ donation. His huge heart lives on and his legacy continues.

Ride high in the sky, son! We know you will be watching over us all!

Katie and Taylor Marcus Memorial Scholarship

Justin and Amy's only two children at the time passed away together in a tragic car accident in Spanish fork canyon.

Their daughter Katie had been feverishly saving for college and it was with those funds that came the inspiration to start this scholarship.

And on the one year anniversary of these siblings the community came together for a memorial 5k and in their memory raised enough to fund the scholarship.

It is Justin and Amy's honor to give back every year to a community that has shown them so much love and support.

Katie 16 was a Sophomore here at Bonneville high school where she blossomed and excelled. A member of the honor society, student of the month in Math, she played on the girls basketball team and ran track. Katie loved life, family and her peers.. she was a friend to all and especially those who needed her the most. She was a listening ear, your biggest cheerleader, a fierce protector and she gave the biggest, warmest hugs.

Taylor 12 was a 6th grader at H Guy Child Elementary where he notably was the class clown. Taylor was polite, well mannered and also a friend to all. He played basketball on the Jr Jazz and a wide receiver/corner for the South Ogden city Jets football. Taylors love and passion for football left a huge impact on his teammates and coaches, he will always be remembered as forever #17.

These inseparable siblings are greatly missed.

Sudhir Kumar Scholarship

Sudhir Kumar graduated from Bonneville High School in 1979 with numerous awards and honors to his credit. He was well versed in the arts, literature and science.  He won first place in microbiology in the regional science fair and represented Utah in the International Science and Technology fair in Sant Antonio, Texas where he won an award and the Governor’s medal for his project. He was the Sterling Scholar in General Studies and Elk’s Teenager of the month, a cross country team runner and the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  He had completed one year of pre-med courses at Northwestern when on July 5, 1980 a tragic auto-pedestrian accident in Denver, Colorado abruptly ended his life.

His nineteen years of life were short, but extremely full.  He radiated his immense love, humanism and compassion to everyone he met and knew.  His loving parents and friends set up a memorial to promote Sudhir’s ideals and goals in education which makes it possible for us to award a sum of money each year to a deserving Bonneville High school student who will attend Weber State University in the fall.

Mary Beth Taylor Memorial Scholarship

The Mary Taylor Memorial Scholarship was established in 1981 in memory of an outstanding

Laker who died in a tragic automobile accident two months prior to her graduation. Mary was an

athlete, a scholar, and was serving as student body secretary at the time of her death. She

lettered in basketball, serving as team captain her senior year. She was a state debate finalist,

a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. Mary was enthusiastic about

church and community service. She was president of the Utah Registry Interpreters for the Deaf

of Ogden, a community of which her parents were a part. The Laker marquee was dedicated in

her honor upon its construction in 1981 and then reconstructed and rededicated-again in her

honor-42 years later in 2023 by her Class of 81 classmates.

To honor Mary, a memorial was created with the Weber School Foundation to provide a

scholarship to a female athlete. This female athlete is one who academically excels and leads

her fellow Lakers in addition to serving in her community.

Mark “Tilly” Tillotson Most Improved Student Memorial Scholarship

Mark Tillotson was known best by all his classmates and faculty as “Tilly”.  Tilly was happy-go-lucky, fun-loving and very social.  Everyone considered Tilly a friend. When his senior year arrived, Tilly realized he had to pick up the pace, academically.  He worked very hard his senior year and graduated with the class of 1999.

Tragically, however, shortly after graduation -- Tilly was water skiing at Lake Powell with friends and drowned.  With the recognition of Tilly’s acknowledgement of the importance of education, the Mark “Tilly” Tillotson Most Improved Student Memorial Scholarship is for one female and one male student who have greatly improved in their education this year and are now on track to graduate.
