Inspiring Story of Uditakiran Kaur
Twelve-year-old, Uditakiran Kaur, always wanted to complete a reading of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. She was wheelchair-bound, and couldn’t turn the pages of the Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but her unwavering faith and love for Waheguru made the seemingly impossible, mammoth task a reality.
She is battling muscular dystrophy, a muscle disease that hampers her mobility and weakens her muscle cells. She cannot lift her hand high enough to turn the pages of the book.
Bound to a wheelchair since the age of seven, after a long medical affair and numerous visits to hospitals. It took her almost two years to complete the reading of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. A feat which many Sikhs in spite of being older and physically abled, don’t achieve. With a little help from her Punjabi teacher and some inspiration from her elder brother to lift the page. She was able to complete the reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The Raagi Saab’s and the other kirtani, who witnessed her concluding the final reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, said, she exudes admirable confidence, which makes her reading all the more beautiful and clear.
It’s said, ‘A word spoken from your mouth with faith can accomplish almost anything.’ Faith wars against and defeats the carnal mind, ignorance, facts and frailty.
Uditakiran Kaur proved this truth. She was blessed to have a family where Gurbani recitation is a norm. The whole family does Sehaj paath. They have a Saroop (copy) of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in their home.
The story of Uditakiran Kaur is a beautiful example of how positive direction of mind in adversity can create miracles.
