Students in the Diversity Inclusion Group have established the following goals for the 2020-2021 school year. We actively pursue the objectives through spreading awareness, advocating for the underrepresented members of the Wachusett school system and community, and through urging local leaders to make change in policy.
Acknowledges that schools, communities, and governments have failed to adequately provide resources, information, and strategies to allow for a system of equity for all individuals.
Recognizes institutional and systematic racism, sexism, homophobia, and elitism, as well as the inherent bias and privilege of individuals in the majority.
Strongly advocates for equal opportunity and inclusion for all minority groups including but not limited to: racial, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, LGBTQ+, and age.
Addresses inequities in our school and community through education and the empowerment of underrepresented voices.
Increases education on the topics of the race construct, gender norms, and the need for diversification of voices.
Expects a permanent shift in attitude towards matters of recognizing systematic injustice, daily micro-aggressions, and discriminatory behavior and policies.
Empowers students of all backgrounds to respectfully and forcefully use their voices to create positive change.
