Hello First Grade students & families,

  My name is Corey Macaruso this is my sixth year teaching at Naquag Elementary School and I am very excited to be teaching First Grade again for the 2026-2027 school year. Prior to teaching at Naquag, I taught for two years in the Worcester Public Schools. I also taught in the Metro-west area for five years before moving to central Ma. Coming from a family of teachers, I feel very fortunate to be working as an educator - I believe it's the most rewarding career there is.

  A little bit about me, I am married with a seven year old daughter, Tess, who is entering Second Grade this year and a three year old son, Davis, who is entering Preschool. I also have a big goofy dog named Ernie. Fun fact, I am the youngest of 5 daughters and I love spending time with my very big extended family. In my free time I enjoy going to the beach, going on walks with my dog & family, watching the Patriots play football, and listening to music/attending concerts when I can. 

My goal for our classroom this year is to grow together not only as learners but socially, emotionally, and independently as well. I will strive to create a classroom community where we make mistakes and learn from them, where we feel safe to be ourselves, and where we can all feel comfortable each and every day that we step foot through our classroom door.
