After Dalton proposed his Atomic Theory the first true model of the atom was developed. Dalton used wooden spheres to represent the different elements. He used different sizes and masses to represent the different elements and hooks to connect the atoms to model compounds. At the time Billiard Balls were made of wood so the model was originally dubbed the Billiard Ball Model. As time progressed the model became known as the Solid Sphere Model, where atoms were thought to be single solid spheres of various sizes and masses.
