Battle On Wheels Tournament Rules
All games will be played under National Inline Hockey Association – Canada playing rules The maximum number of players per team. Maximum roster is 14 players (12 skaters and 2 goalies). No players can be added to a roster after the start of the tournament. Affiliate players must play in a round robin game if they are playing in a playoff game. The only exception to this rule is goalies.
NO SLAP SHOTS allowed
At the conclusion of the warm-up, a minimum of 6 eligible players in uniform (not necessarily a goalie) on each team shall be necessary to start the game. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN FORFEITURE.
Any Coach/Manager/Coaching staff suspended during the tournament will not be permitted to be on any bench until their suspension has been served.
There is 0 tolerance for abuse of officials (no yelling at the refs from the stands, making rude gestures, or talking to an official at the end of a game)
Teams will be allowed to add new players to their roster up until their first assigned floor time of the tournament, provided they don’t surpass the legal number of players on their roster (12 & 2). All changes must be completed on game sheets prior to game start. Goalies are the only exception to this rule.
Event Chair and Committee have full authority to suspend a player, coach, coaching staff member or spectator from the event for any verbal or physical abuse to any event staff, official, player team official or spectator.
The Event Chair and Committee have full authority and reserve the right to allow exceptions and amendments to Tournament rules for the spirit of competition.
There is a three goal maximum per player per game. 4th goals scored with intent will result in an unsportsmanlike penalty.
Any players receiving a major for fighting or intent to injure will be ejected from the tournament
All Youth Players born in 2006 (U18 division) and younger must wear full cages regardless of the division of play.
One overage player per team will be allowed to be rostered to a team (2005 in U18). This must be approved by the tournament coordinator. An overage player in U18 must regularly play with their home association. An overaged player must regularly play in the age division that they are playing in league play.
Players may only be rostered to one team in an age division. Goalies are the exception to the rule and may be rostered on more than one team in an age division.
All players playing in the tournament must be members of a member league in Alberta Minor Roller Hockey.
WHEN TEAMS ARE TIED FOR A PLAYOFF POSITION
In the event that teams are tied in points for a playoff position, the following procedure will apply:
The team with the most wins in the round robin gains the highest position
The winner of the pool game between the two tied teams gains the highest position (only applies in two team tie)
The team with the least amount of goals against in round robin games shall be seeded highest (be mindful that it isn’t who scores the most goals but who defends their goal best. It is better to win 10-0 than 20-10 if your are in a tie breaker)
If the teams are still tied , then the team with the best goal differential will be seeded higher
Example
Team 1 14 goals for 3 goals against GD= 11
Team 2 12 goals for 3 goals against GD = 9
Team 3 18 goals for 3 goals against GD = 15
Team 3 would seed highest, team 2 second and team 3 3rd
If still tied, team with less penalty minutes shall be seeded in the higher position
If still tied, a coin toss will determine
