WRPS Stay Connected Program

WRPS Stay Connected Program

WRPS is committed to preparing our community of learners to effectively and responsibly apply information technology skills and tools to be a part of their lives, today and into the future.

In partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and Solarus, Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools has developed the “WRPS Stay Connected” Program. This program is designed to bring a high speed internet connection into your home to support WRPS Educational programming.

The internet connection type will be determined on the student's service address. One of two options will be available for internet connectivity. WRPS will either provide a Kajeet wireless hotspot or a hard-wired connection provided by Solarus to the home.

Both of these services are based on need to be determined by WRPS, Solarus and the families requesting this service. To qualify for internet service, one or more of the below criteria must be met:

  1. Student, family or household qualifies for free and/or reduced meals as part of the National School Lunch Program.

  2. Student, family or household is considered homeless based on criteria in the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act.

  3. Student, family or household has extenuating circumstances that prevent them from obtaining internet access.

AND

  1. Student, family or household does not currently have Solarus Home Internet services installed in their residence.

Families that are eligible and choose to participate in this program understand and accept responsibility for the following:

    • Internet access is for use of WRPS educational programming only.

    • The internet connection will be monitored and filtered using a web content filter by the WRPS Technology Department.

    • A WRPS student network login will be required to use this internet connection.

    • Use of Smart TVs, Roku sticks, Apple TV’s and other smart devices are not compatible with this service. This service is not to be used to stream television or be used for non-education related services.

    • Respecting and being responsible for the use of this internet connection and only allowing access for WRPS students.

    • Acting in a responsible manner while using this internet connection.

    • Seeking immediate contact with the WRPS Technology Department if the service address is to be relocated or disconnected for any reason.

    • Calling the Solarus Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for all internet connectivity questions and assistance. If Solarus can’t resolve the issue or if they determine it is a WRPS issue, Solarus will direct you to contact the WRPS Technology Support Department.

If you are interested in learning more about your family or household eligibility to participate in this program, please reach out to your child(ren)'s counselor.
