A Message from the Massachusetts chapter--Writers for Democratic Action
We have power. We have purpose. We have each other.
"I care that right now everything I do—every act I take, every word I utter—somehow makes my family, my community, my country better.” —Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
How We Can Make A Difference
Yes, the current administration unleashes damaging actions daily. But here's what they can't stop: writers who refuse to be silenced, communities that stand together, and the unstoppable force of organized resistance. Every action counts. Every voice matters. Every week, we rise.
A Weekly Action Menu—Choose One (Or More!):
AMPLIFY → Share powerful voices like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Substack, read and share information from Meidas Touch News, or your favorite voices, so that your platform becomes a megaphone for truth.
SUPPORT → Send even $5 to the ACLU as they fight illegal actions in real time. Small donations fuel big victories.
ENGAGE → Like, share, and comment on posts from allies spreading awareness. Algorithms reward engagement—make resistance go viral.
CONNECT → Check 50501 for local events. Your neighbors are organizing—join them.
MOBILIZE → Amplify groups like Turn-Up that are registering voters in crucial swing states. Democracy wins through participation.
The secret to success without burnout?
We don't have to do everything if we each do one thing.
One action per week. Fifty-two actions per year. Hundreds of Massachusetts writers taking action. That's how movements grow. That's how democracy survives. That's how we win.
