Wright Technical Center offers students two Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities to learn a variety of skills by expanding the walls of classroom learning to include real work experience. Both options at Wright Technical Center provide students with connecting classroom learning with real-world work experiences and career exploration. Work Based Learning at Wright Technical Center is available to any student enrolled in one of Wright Technical Center's (WTC) partnering school districts: Annandale, Big Lake, Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Lake, Monticello, and St. Michael-Albertville.
Seniors
Duration: 1 school-calendar year
Students obtain job with any industry on their own
Students work 40 hours/month with paystub verification
Students attend mandatory class 1 time/week at WTC
Focus is on developing workplace skills and career planning
Students are assessed on work hours, performance evaluation, professionalism, and classroom assignments
Age 16+
Duration: 1 calendar year (can include summer)
Students obtain Youth Apprenticeship with business through Wright Technical Center Coordinator Approval
Students work 450 hours/year with paystub verification
Students attend mandatory monthly meeting 1 time/month
Focus is on obtaining industry specific skills and career exploration in a specific industry
Students are assessed on completion of work hours and industry skill standards per program area
