7 Tips for Practicing Positive Discipline

At JXW we use what is called the Tool Box to help students learn how to manage and regulate their feelings and actions. These tools reside inside us and help us develop strong social and emotional skills and meaningful, satisfying relationships. In Kindergarten and TK, we will be teaching our students 6 of the 12 tools.

The Tools our TK/K kids will be learning about are:

• Breathing Tool • Using our Words Tool

• Listening Tool • Personal Space Tool

• Garbage Can Tool • Patience Tool

The Tools are simple, but they require practice, practice and more practice. Your child will learn more tools as they move into other grade levels at JXW. You are your child's most important teacher. We invite you to support your child in learning and practicing these Tools at home. We hope you find that using the Tools together will help create a better relationship with your children.
