Waterloo Collegiate Institute: A Legacy of Athletic Excellence
Waterloo Collegiate Institute has long been known for its academic excellence, but in recent years, it’s the school’s athletic achievements that have been making waves—literally. Alana Corrigan on the swim team has been rewriting the record books, with several long-standing school and regional records shattered in back-to-back seasons.
WCI’s athletic legacy doesn’t stop at the pool. The school has also produced standout athletes who’ve gone on to achieve success on the national stage. Notably, one of WCI’s alumni, Scott Yen-Chun Lu, made headlines by winning gold at the Canada Winter Games, showcasing the kind of elite talent that continues to emerge from its sports programs. Add to that the journey of Logan Stanley, a former student who went from being a top OHL draft pick to playing in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets, and it’s clear that WCI is more than just a high school—it's a launching pad for future champions.
With a supportive community, strong coaching staff, and a culture that pushes students to be their best, Waterloo Collegiate Institute remains a powerhouse in both academics and athletics. The records being broken and the medals being won are more than just achievements—they’re part of a growing legacy.
