Group Study
There are many benefits to group study:
Improve your own set of notes
Share talents and unique insights
Gaining from the perspective of your peers
Great support system
Collectively check content from class
Opportunity to ask and answer clarifying questions using the group expertise
Assess your knowledge by explaining or teaching the topic to the group
Creates a fun learning environment
Group study can be done in person or online. If you enjoy working online then perhaps you would like to start an online group study group. Many students find this to be beneficial to their learning experience and it means that they can connect with their friends and ask and solve questions without leaving their homes at night.
Group study is a suggestion; it does not benefit all people, as we all learn differently. Some prefer independent study, while others prefer to work in groups.
Everyone in your group will come with their own set of unique talents and insight. You will all benefit from hearing each others opinions and working through questions as a team.
In order for group study to be truly effective you need to have a plan:
How many? Keep it small, otherwise people will socialize too much
Who? Make sure your group members share similar goals ie: grades, to understand a specific topic, same spare
How long? Do not study in a group for longer than 2+ hrs otherwise the group productivity will decrease
When? Plan to meet regularly
Be PREPARED! Group study is much more effective if you come prepared
Group study should NOT be the only way you prepare for a test
