Jacob Hespeler Secondary School
Welcome to Learning Services at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School. We provide support for students with special education needs. Students supported through Learning Services have Individual Education Plans. Special Education programming at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School includes:
Access to Special Education Resource Teachers (SERTs) and Educational Assistants (EA) who understand students' learning profiles
Access to the Learning Resource Center for academic support, alternative workspace, and accommodations for students in destreamed, workplace, applied, and academic courses
Learning strategies courses (credit-bearing) to support academics, organizational coaching, executive function, literacy, and numeracy skill development (Course codes: GLE1O, GLE2O, GLE3O, GLE4O)
Resource period (non-credit-bearing) work period directly supported by a SERT
Help with assistive technology, SEA, flexible seating, and other tools
Fastforward is a unique diploma-granting program (OSSD) focussing on preparing students for the workplace
Alternative Continuum of Education (ACE) classes for students identified with Intellectual or Developmental disabilities through the IPRC process. This is a non-credit program leading to a certificate of accomplishment.
