What is Family Studies?

Family Studies is a multi-disciplinary domaine that integrates the learning of various subjects such as food and nutrition, human growth and development, personal wellbeing, family functioning, raising healthy children, human relationships, financial literacy, clothing maintenance amongst many others!

Dependant upon the course itself, all of these topics might be explored in a broad manner (i.e. HIF: Exploring Family Studies) or one aspect might be focused on in immense profundity (i.e. HFN: Food and Nutrition).

All courses dually incorporate theoretical underpinnings and their practical applications in real-life contexts. Rooted in the Humanities and Social Sciences, our course analyzes how we come to view ourselves, our families, our communities and larger society. Furthermore, we illuminate the dynamicity of "how individuals influence and are influenced by families, communities, cultures, institutions, societies and by ideas, norms and values" (Ministry of Education, 2013, p. 7.)
