Monday Sept. 28, 2020

Today we discussed our research on the frog and bulrush( see this link to the worksheet and the worksheet with student answers. We will review tomorrow for our Ecology Unit Test on Thursday.

Thursday Sept. 24, 2020

Today we discussed our answers to the workbook page 95-98, Questions #3, #2, #1. We started on a worksheet to describe the ecological niche of a frog and bulrush. This will be continued in class on Monday.

Wednesday Sept. 23, 2020

Today we finished our research of one flora and one fauna for our study of the creek behind the school. The worksheet is due tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 24). See the worksheet in the notes section (SciTech7_Pond Study 1 Niches).

Monday Sept. 21, 2020

Today was a beautiful day! We went outside to explore the habitat on our local trail behind the school by the creek. We found examples of flora and fauna, documented our field observations, and sketched a profile of the landscape. See the worksheet in the notes section (SciTech7_Pond Study 1 Niches).

Today we started watching the documentary "Lost Worlds: Life in the Balance". We explored how living things are interconnected with others and their environment. We have 9 mins left to watch on Thursday together. We filled out a worksheet while watching the documentary (available in the NOTES section). Monday Sept. 14 , 2020

Today we reviewed what a habitat is (our notes). We watched a short video about habitats to give us some ideas for assignment: https://youtu.be/byvf7jwdvOI

We received our first assignment: Fishbone Habitat Diagram with examples of four different habitats and their living/non-living characteristics.

Today we reviewed class expectations, and started an activity to get-to-know our classmates. This presentation and the course outline is below.

Homework tonight: Ms. Arnold's Website Scavenger Hunt. Instructions are below!

Supply list to start the year:

• 1 or 1.5 inch binder

• 9-10 binder dividers

• Lined Paper

• Graph paper

• Pens

• Pencils (lots!)

• Sharpener

• 2 erasers

• Coloured pens for correcting

• Highlighters (multiple colours)

• Pencil Crayons

Please note that due to the current circumstances and new protocols, it is important that each student has their own materials. Sharing of materials is discouraged. It is also difficult for teachers to provide or loan any supplies as materials cannot be shared between groups. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
