The Code of Conduct applies in my room and anywhere on campus or otherwise! Both myself and you must adhere to them!
Materials (Treat these materials like you would if you owned them):
Please do not use my pencil sharpener. You may exchange or borrow a pencil for this class, but you must make sure that you return it before you leave.
There are scissors, highlighters, erasers, a 3-hole punch, and a stapler for you to use in the back of the classroom.
We will use whiteboards on occasion, so knowing where they, the eraser cloths that go with them, and the dry erase markers are is vital.
Please do not take anything off my desk or use anything on my desk. These are my belongings!
Please do not touch the air conditioner, light and fan switches, or any other appliance in my room unless I ask you to.
Please make sure you have the appropriate materials for my class. If this becomes a problem, I will meet with you and we will figure out a solution.
Please keep backpacks out of the aisle to prevent me and others from tripping.
If any classroom materials start going missing and/or you abuse them in any way, I will lock everything in my closet, and they will be used at my discretion and with my permission.
Calculators will be numbered! Please use the one that corresponds to the number you are given at the start of school. This will be your number for my class, and you will use it for most things.
Please only use a pencil in this class! NO PENS! It is a math class, after all.
Movement:
Each of my classes will have a seating chart. Advanced Math and DE College Algebra students have the option of choosing their seats. All other classes will be placed in alphabetical order until a seating arrangement can be created. Regardless of class, if I see a problem occurring due to where you are seated, you will be moved.
Please do not leave your seat for any reason while I am teaching except to get a pencil.
Go to the bathroom before and after class! If you need to go to the bathroom due to an emergency, you must sign the bathroom sign out sheet and make sure that you take the hall pass with you. It will be on the back of the classroom. You will not be allowed to leave my room for anything without the hall pass. I will not be responsible for anything that you missed while going to the bathroom, but you can always get with someone after class to find out what you missed!
Only one person is allowed out of my classroom at one time!
If you are not in your seat ready to begin the lesson when the tardy bell rings, you will be marked tardy!
Please do not leave your seat during instruction to throw anything away. Throw things away at the beginning of class, end of class, or when I am not teaching. This will cause the least distractions to the class.
Please do not come into the classroom when you are not in my class. This is a distraction to myself and the entire class that I am teaching at the time.
Assignments:
What we do for the day will always be written on the board!
When turning in assignments, there will a basket with your math class’ period labeled on each. It is your responsibility to turn in any assignments at the end of class or when you finish your test! I will not take up assignments or get you to pass anything to me, so please do not hand me an assignment!
There will be an absentee folder for your class. Any assignments that took place on the day of your absence will be placed in this folder. It is your responsibility to find, complete, and submit your missed work to the correct slot in the aforementioned racks. What we do each day will also be marked on the calendar by the door and on the board. Check it if you are unsure what you missed, even if you have no assignments in the absentee folder.
The same can be said about checking out early. Please make sure that you check with someone to find out what you have missed. If you left before an assignment was passed out, it will be in the absentee folder.
Before you ask, everything that you do in my class is for a grade. It may not be graded for correctness all the time, but it will be graded for completeness and the effort that you put into it.
Questioning
While I am teaching, please do not talk with your neighbors or out loud. If you have a question or an emergency, raise your hand and I will call on you.
I will also ask questions to the class as a whole. You should be able to understand when these times will be, but typically, I will say, “Let’s Discuss,” or something of the sort. During these times, you are able to talk about what we are working on that is math related.
There will be times when I will let you grade your own assignments. I expect you to be respectful, considerate, and truthful during these activities.
Covid-19 Procedures
To Be Determined
Please no food in the classroom, besides lunch, unless I specifically bring some for you to eat!
If there is an emergency, please hold yourself to a higher standard and act responsibility, calmly, and considerately. This includes medical emergencies, security issues, and any and all other emergencies.
If I see a cell phone, headphones, earbuds, gaming consoles, or anything technological that I have not permitted you to use, I will take it and send it to the office! This has been a substantial problem in the classroom the past few years, and it will NOT be tolerated!
Any cheating or plagiarism is unacceptable, and the student will receive a zero, and a call home!
