As the school counselor, I am here to serve the entire school, both students as well as faculty and staff. I am also available to meet with parents and guardians concerning their children.
Services I provide here at school include: classroom guidance activities and lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling on an as needed basis.
Classroom guidance is provided to all students here at school. We will focus on different topics throughout the year that will be posted on my homepage for you to discuss and reinforce with your child.
Small group counseling will be provided for students in groups of 3-5 who have similar needs such as: parents divorcing, parents in jail, anger management, social skills, etc. If your child is asked or shows interest in participating in a small group, a letter and permission form will be sent home for you to sign and return.
Individual counseling is provided to students on a short-term and as needed basis for any issue that the student may have. A request for individual counseling may be made by the student, a faculty or staff member, or a parent. Students may make the request by writing me a short note and delivering it to me personally, emailing me, or by a notifying the teacher. Faculty and staff may make individual counseling requests by completing a short counseling referral form and returning it to me. A parent may make this request by phone call, e-mail, note, or in person. In your request, please give as much detail as possible as this will help me to better serve your child. As with small group counseling, a permission form must be signed by a parent or guardian before ongoing counseling may begin.
*** If you, as a parent/guardian, or I feel that your child needs more intense or in-depth counseling than I can provide here at school, I encourage you to seek outside mental health services. I will be happy to help you find what is right for your child.
