Individual Counseling
Individual counseling with students should be a brief form of counseling that will help the student with a variety of issues. The aim is to help students with short-term problems. The school counselor will refer the student to seek additional counseling outside the school if needed.
Classroom Lessons
Counseling lessons are a critical part of the school counseling curriculum and can cover a variety of topics at the K-12 level. These lessons are provided in classroom settings and reach many students at once. Counseling lessons are designed to be preventative in nature, teaching students skills they need to grow and develop in the academic, career, and personal/social areas.
Small Groups
During small group counseling, students are given the opportunity to learn more about themselves, develop new tools like coping strategies and self-awareness, improve confidence, and hear from peers that they are not alone.
Confidentiality Statement:
As school counselors, we maintain strict confidentiality in all our interactions. All meetings held with the school counselor will remain confidential unless the student gives permission to share information with related parties.
However, circumstances do arise where we must disclose information to appropriate professionals. Reasons for breaking confidentiality are but not limited to: a student is in danger of harming themselves, another individual, or if a student is in danger of being harmed by others.
