School Counselors

School counselors are certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.

School Social Workers

As a School Social Worker in Waukegan, our primary role is to provide direct support to students identified with social emotional needs through their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We also provide crisis intervention for student safety among other student, family and community interventions and support.

School Psychologists

The school psychologist's role in Waukegan varies greatly, but we have a primary role in assessments supporting MTSS intervention and problem solving as well as eligibility for special education programs.  Basically as we tell our students, we are here to help kids when there are problems at school.  

Bilingual Liaison

Hello, I am Ms. Sandoval bilingual liaison at John Lewis Middle School. Official translator for the building during IEP and parent meetings and for student services.

Behavior Interventionist 

The Behavioral Specialist, assists and supports students with peer, teacher, and staff conflict resolution and relationship building. As well as assists teachers with behavior management and data collection.

Climate and Culture Specialist 

The Culture and Climate Specialist serves as a student support advocate to focus on matters pertaining to school discipline, attendance, and administrative policies and procedures.

Family Support Manager

The Family Support Manager provides support to our students and families related to:

• Attendance, tardiness, and truancy concerns

• Behavior and discipline related to attendance

• Roar Resets with students

• McKinney-Vento (Homelessness)

• Check-in/Check-out for attendance-related matters

• Facilitating social service support for families

• Support and facilitate school/home communication

• Partnership with community service organizations

• Mentorship for students

Bilingual and Newcomer Family Manager

The Bilingual Family Support Manager for the Newcomers Program works with students and parents to build student success and integration to the United States and Waukegan community.

School Nurse

Welcome, students and families! The nurse support students' health in the school setting as well as assisting students and families with health information and resources. The nurse also collect the required 6th Grade Physical Examinations and Immunizations as well as important health data for all students.
