About Greenwood Elementary School
Greenwood Elementary School first opened its doors in 1925 as a two-room school. Through the years, it has been expanded to accommodate approximately 350 students.
We are proud of our diversity and while we celebrate our cultural differences, we still manage to create a sense of community that gives us strength and purpose, as we prepare the children of today for the world of tomorrow. At Greenwood, we reach beyond the basic curriculum to engage our students in a variety of learning activities that are both meaningful and enriching. The curriculum taught at Greenwood is consistent with the goals set forth by the Illinois State Board of Education. It is based upon rigorous, high quality local, state, and national standards and is delivered through exemplary teaching practices that are supported by a process of continuous review and improvement.

About North Elementary School
North Elementary School is striving to become a beacon of high standards in quality education. The school is the oldest elementary building in the Waukegan School District, going back to the year 1856. The North Annex, although a separate physical plant, added six new classrooms under the jurisdiction of North School. Building characteristics have changed throughout the years, but the main mission of the school remains the same.
With a wonderful representation of students from Waukegan, and an energized, competent staff, North School continues its journey into the future. With a concentration of minority students at the 98% level, of which 95% are Hispanic, the school is enhancing its educational mission in order to assist the students and their families to obtain multi-cultural knowledge and improvement in their acquisition of the English language.
