Google Expeditions is an immersive learning tool that lets you go on VR trips or explore AR objects. Explore historical landmarks, go down to the atomic level, get up close with sharks – even visit outer space!

Expeditions for your smartphone, means that you can explore more than 600 different tours on your own. Google Cardboard is a viewer you can place your phone into and use with the App – they cost about £15 and are available from Google, but you can use the App just as well without one. Some expeditions require you to print out bar-coded pieces of paper to place around the room – scanning these with your phone then allows certain features to ‘appear’ – the trick is to play around with the App and find out what works best for you. Each tour has information for you to read and various questions that you can answer (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

Why not go on tours at home and share your experience with your family? It’s easy to use. All you need is your smartphone, Google Cardboard (optional) and the Expeditions App. If you have a Daydream-ready phone, it also works with Daydream View. Simply launch the App, pop your phone in your viewer (again, you do not have to do this) and you’re ready to go.

To get started with Self-Guided Expeditions, check out the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, or dive into the beautiful and fragile Great Barrier Reef. Also check out Basic Landforms and Physical Geography. There are also numerous global cities for you to explore.

Please share the expeditions you complete in Google Classroom and these can be shared with the rest of the club.
