Contacting Ms. Castellano

Parent/guardian communication is extremely important to me! I will try to respond as soon as possible if you send me an email between 8:00 - 3:00 Monday-Friday. If you send me an email after 3:00 PM during the weekday, then I will get back to you the following morning. If you send an email after 3:00 PM on Friday, then I will get back to you the following Monday morning.

Phones/Smartwatches

Student phones must be turned OFF and put away in their backpack for the entire duration of the school day. No exceptions. A student may wear a smartwatch if it is used only for telling time and does not become a distraction. Students and parents are not allowed to call or text during the school day. If the child's watch becomes a problem, then I will confiscate the watch and it will be returned upon a parent coming to get it via in-person conference. If you need to get in contact with your child, please call the front office or email me.

Toys from Home

Students are welcome to bring toys from home to play with during recess. No electronic toys are permitted (tablets, phones, etc.) However, it is the student's responsibility to maintain their toy. There is always a risk of toys becoming lost or broken. If you or your child do not want this to happen, then leave the toy at home.

Birthdays & Food in the Classroom

There is no food or goodie bags permitted for birthdays. There are so many dietary restrictions and allergies present in the student body at Woods Charter School. As a class, we will celebrate each student's birthday in a fun and equitable way. If treats are brought in from home, then they will be sent back with the student at the end of the day.

Front Desk Check-In & Walking Students to Class

We welcome parent volunteers! To ensure the safety of our students, you must check in at the front office and receive a guest badge for the day. You will be asked to go to the front office and check in if you are not wearing the guest badge.

After the first week of school, first graders are expected to walk to their classroom by themselves. A great hug and go spot is near the steps to the elevator in the Great Room.

Proper PE Attire

Ms. Wood has asked that students please remember to wear proper shoes (ie. sneakers) on days when students have PE. Our class has PE and walking program on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
