Welcome to my website!
This year will be my 18th year teaching mathematics at Woods Charter. I am originally from Wales, UK, where I grew up in the capital city of Cardiff. I graduated from De Montfort University, Leicester with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and then went on to graduate from the University of Wales with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE in Secondary Mathematics).
After teaching in Wales for a few years I decided to embark on an exciting adventure through a teacher exchange program and ended up in High Point, NC, where I taught for 3 years before finding my way to Chapel Hill to teach at Woods. My own children are in 7th grade here and we love the community at Woods.
My passion is showing students the beauty of mathematics in the world around them, and how it is connected to their lives. I believe good problem-solving ability lies at the heart of mathematics. We will use collaborative work and individual investigative tasks in class to help develop this skill, which will be useful for the rest of their lives.
