For many years, WCS has provided practice SAT opportunities for our students. The purpose of the SAT is to show a student's strengths and readiness for college work by measuring literacy, numeracy and writing skills that are needed for academic success in college. The PSAT 9 and 10 (for freshmen and sophomores) is a grade-level-appropriate test that helps prepare students for success on the SAT.
In the past, colleges and universities have widely used the SAT score as part of their admissions process to make enrollment and placement decisions. Since 2020, some colleges and universities no longer require applicants to submit SAT scores. Specifically, California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) schools now have a policy that they will not consider SAT scores when making admissions decisions. However, a number of private and out-of-state universities still require and/or encourage SAT scores as a part of their admissions process, and SAT scores are sometimes used for scholarship determinations, so many students may find the exam process a helpful part of their college preparation.
Due to this change, we are providing the PSAT 9 and 10 as an option (not a requirement) for students. The digital PSAT 9 and 10 will be conducted on campus on Thursday, March 5th from 8:00am-11:30am. March 5th is a regular A day at the high school. Students taking the PSAT 9 and 10 will be excused from their classes during that day. All other freshmen and sophomores will attend classes as usual.
Click HERE for more PSAT 9 information and prep tools.
Click HERE for more PSAT 10 information and prep tools.
Please sign up for this optional test HERE by the February 4th deadline, and we'll be in touch with more details for registrants as the test approaches.

Selective Service System: When you register with the Selective Service, you're helping ensure a secure future for your community and the United States of America. While there is currently no draft, registration with the Selective Service System is the most publicly visible program during peacetime that ensures operational readiness in a fair and equitable manner. If authorized by the President and Congress, our Agency would rapidly provide personnel to the Department of Defense while at the same time providing an Alternative Service Program for conscientious objectors. Federal Law requires nearly all-male US citizens and male immigrants, 18 through 25, register with Selective Service.
ASVAB Information Sheet: The ASVAB is a timed, multi-aptitude test, which is given at more than 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide and is developed and maintained by the Defense Department (DoD). The ASVAB helps the DoD not just determine whether you are a good fit to join the service, but also which service branch you might be best for and even what military jobs you can hold after you finish basic training or boot camp. The better your ASVAB score, the broader your options.

Let's remember what a blessing we can be to those around us during these challenging times. Jesus loved his neighbors in practical ways, and we have that same opportunity too! Your annual 20 hours of community service may be accomplished at a traditional, non-profit organization (like a church, homeless shelter, wildlife refuge, donation sorting center, etc.) or through any variety of non-traditional opportunities: Help an elderly neighbor weed their yard, organize a neighbor's garage, plan an evening of games and activities for your pastor's kiddos so they can take a night off! If you prefer to serve your community from home, you can write encouraging letters to some wise friends at your local senior citizen facility, send a care package to a veteran, knit booties for the NICU unit, create TikToks teaching elementary students Bible verses through song and dance...there's no limit on where your imagination can take you on this! Have fun spreading the joy of the Lord to those near and far, and don't forget to turn your forms to the front office to show your 20 completed hours each year! Go, Cardinals!
Was 30, now 20 hours required each year - graduation requirement (ie, the Class of 2026 needs 110 total, if they've been here all four years) (30 hours for freshman, sophomore and junior years, plus 20 hours for senior year)
