Mr. Collins has been the Director of Bands at Woodford County HS since 2015. Under his leadership, the Woodford County Band continues to establish itself as one of the most well-rounded, high-achieving band programs in the central Kentucky area. The Woodford County Band program offers students the opportunity to participate in Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, chamber ensembles, and winter guard. The Symphonic Band and Jazz Band consistently receive distinguished ratings at KMEA assessment events. The marching band has been a consistent state semifinalist in Class AAAA , a six-time MidStates Band Association Class AAA finalist, and is a 2021 BOA Regional Finalist.
Prior to coming to Woodford County, he served as the Assistant Director of Bands for LaRue County Public Schools, directing the middle school band program and assisting at the high school. The middle and high school band programs saw consistent success at both assessment events and district honor bands, and the high school marching band is the 2011 KMEA Class AA State champion.
He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Arts in Education with a Teacher Leader Endorsement from the University of the Cumberlands.
