"Music is one of the best things at Woodfield Academy, when I'm older I want to be a musician..."
At Woodfield Academy we consider music as a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. We aim to deliver a high quality music education which engages and inspires pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians. We feel this increases pupils’ self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
As pupils progress from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3, they will develop a critical engagement with music by:
•Developing an understanding of musical composition, organising and manipulating ideas within musical structures and reproducing sounds from aural memory.
•Singing and playing musically with increasing confidence and control.
•Playing and performing in solo and ensemble contexts.
•Using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression.
•Listening with attention to detail and recalling sounds with increasing aural memory.
•Appreciating and understanding a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians whilst developing an understanding of the history of music.
