Learn About The High School

Change is Coming to Woodburn High School!

On February 9th, the Woodburn School Board voted to restructure the high school in order to address issues of equity and access to course offerings for all students. The new model, which will be developed over the next two years, will be designed to include the best aspects of small schools, including small learning cohorts, strong relationships with teachers and support teams, and a relevant curriculum that connects to students' interests and passions. However, the changes also allow us to provide more access to classes and opportunities that all students need to find post-secondary success. This includes opening up access to elective and CTE offerings across the campus, as well as access to courses that award college credit.

The videos below provide additional information on why we need to change our current small schools system, and how these changes will benefit students.

Because of the on-going process to develop and transition into this new model, it is likely that your student will not graduate from the school they are placed in for the 2021-2022 school year, but instead graduate from this new model. Because of this, we are changing the 8th choice process to a transition process where students will give input into their placement based on school preference and elective selection. We hope this provides a balance between addressing student preference and providing flexibility for the upcoming transition.

Below are copies of our parent and student presentations and well as videos of the meetings.
