About Me

I am Alexandra Castañeda. I am originally from Ecuador, South America. I am bilingual and bi-cultural. I know personally the challenges that come with parenting, having two daughters of my own, I know what young students face in school academically, socially and emotionally.

My Philosophy of School Counseling includes:

• Building relationships with students of all backgrounds.

• Advocating for students' success, and collaborating with parents, administrators, teachers, staff and other school professionals.

• Interacting with students, care about their personal lives and listen to their issues and share quality time with them, so they feel safe, accepted and welcome every time they come to talk to me.

• I will use equity. I will be fair and treat every student the same way. I believe that equity refers to providing the same educational opportunities to all students. Equity also means that school counselors have to get the proper training and skills in order to provide quality services to all students.
