Sixth Grade

Sixth grade is a very important year. Students begin to transform into young adults and begin to develop who they are. I have attached an article that gives some great advice on how to deal with those difficult pre-teen years. One important thing I discuss with students during this time is the many changes they will experience both physically and emotionally. Students can tend to feel they are the only one that is going through these changes and it is so important for them to understand that things are a normal and they are not alone. Relationships are very important at this age because pre-teens may begin to not be as open with parents about things that are going on. Talk with your son/ daughter about the importance of talking with you about situations and keeping those lines of communication open and that trust developed.
