Student created AI song for the Mechanics Program THE HEART OF AN ENGINE

Mechanics helped me drastically improve my knowledge on the topic of cars, how to replace brakes, how to operate a tire machine (both putting a tire on a rim and taking a tire off a rim), how to take off a door panel, the benefits of a car memory saver, and lots more. Mechanics also helped me find other people with the same interests who also helped me learn along the way. I also enjoyed the new shop organization, having everything listed and it being where it actually is. I overcame the struggle of not knowing what I was doing!
CDX can be a pain in the butt to figure out how to operate, but it really helps you figure out what you're supposed to be doing. Asking for help can sometimes be difficult but having an experienced teacher and some experienced students around really helps. Ps: let me know if you ever need more shop organization done, I enjoy organizing stuff and would love to do it again.

I feel that CDX and the way we are taught improved our learning. I think because we do 30 minutes of CDX it improves your knowledge with tools, cars, electrical, parts, etc. The things Mr. Wyatt teaches us in the automotives shop are a lifetime experience. Being taught how to fill in log sheets about the cars you're working on, how to work on different types of vehicle lifts and bike lifts are all amazing things to know. I feel that after taking mechanics in grade 10 I have learned more than I thought I would, and that will forever stick with me for the future.
Overall it’s an amazing course and I think everyone should take it. Even if you don’t have much interest in taking the option I still think it is a great thing to do. You learn new things and he teaches you more things that could help you in the future about vehicles, motors,
electrical, etc.

I strongly believe that the Lacombe Comp mechanics program is an amazing opportunity for students to learn life long skills. Mr Wyatt does an excellent job teaching the class and including and inspiring his students. This program has opened many doors for me career wise, as well as added to my knowledge of light duty automobiles.

In previous years I've always been a hands on learner, and I still am. When I was informed of how CDX was theory focused on multiple modules, I dragged my feet through the mud. Eventually, due to its multiple course forms and ways of teaching via book style with paragraphs, images, videos and even audio form, I was able to find a good "flow" after about a week. It may feel like pushing through a brick wall at first, it did for me, but in 3 weeks of doing a mix of at home and in school learning, I've been able to complete multiple credits. Though it may be challenging at first, the online availability of CDX has let me work on it anywhere and has improved my hands-on learning in the shop. With safety and tool chapters it can help people that are new to the shop have a better understanding of what to use rather than guessing with 20 different tools. With that being said, I don't enjoy theory as much as the next person, but CDX has made it easier for me with the tools and features it offers.

CDX and working in the shop have increased my ability to learn more things about vehicles/tools/parts, ect. Overall, the time I spent working in the shop has been a new hands-on experience for me. CDX made me think about what was what, and learn new things within the website, and working in the shop. I was struggling at the start then I just wrapped my head around it, got it done, and overcame my challenges! I learned new things that I didn't know about vehicles. Now I know about most things there are to learn in the grade 10 curriculum. Overall, CDX is a great thing to either study for, learn about, or get work done. I think everyone should take this course! It was a new learning experience for me and I hope it will be for you.

I was in Mr Wyatt's mechanics class for semester 1, quarter 1 and I loved it. It was an enjoyable class to walk into and the environment for being a high school mechanics class was very clean, well organized, and laid out almost perfectly with the space given. All the tools were kept in nice tool boxes or tool sets that had their own cases. The locker room was fairly good and clean. There are different colored zones in the shop that are indicated with painted marks on the floor and with posters on the wall with whatever color that zone is. For the CDX modules, at first it can seem very overwhelming because there are quite a few sections in each chapter; however Mr. Wyatt will give you enough time to complete each section during class time. If you would rather be in the shop toward the end of the semester, you can complete more modules on your own time. For personal projects such as trucks, quads, sleds, dirt bikes, etc; you are encouraged to bring them in and work on them during shop time. I think Mr Wyatt is a great teacher for the mechanics class. He welcomes everyone to his class no matter if you don't know what a wrench looks like or if you know how to do a full engine/transmission rebuild. If you have the chance to join his class, do it, you won't regret it.

The last two years of mechanics were very useful because I could help other people who were struggling in the shop. Sometimes I cleaned the shop and put the tools away, and then I saw some tools were missing because people were taking the tools with them. Last year, I couldn’t help out around the shop. Then I came to mechanics this year, and I saw a different mechanic shop. The shop was neat and it had different zones for people to work on different shop projects. This year I knew a little more mechanics and I got to help out the class on Prodemand.
I had a great time in the shop and enjoyed working on projects there because I could easily walk over to the toolbox to find the tools I needed, instead of always going to the “Tool Room”. I had fun learning with CDX since its information was valuable when fixing vehicles. For instance, courses such as 1015, 2100, 2120, 3030, and 3090 explain how to repair your vehicle. I recommend using ProDemand, as it is extremely helpful. It provided me with specifications for a fuel pump, as well as details on engine removal and installation.
I felt that I struggled in the shop and CDX during the first and the second week. I struggled on CDX because I didn't know where to start, and once I got through the first unit of CDX, then after that, I flew through the next unit and got 5-6 credits in the mechanic program. I struggled in the shop because I thought I had to go to the tool room every time to get a tool I needed but Mr. Wyatt said I didn't have to go to the tool room, and I had all the tools in the shop in the toolbox right by the stations I am working on.
I had such a great time at the shop, and I'm really looking forward to going back to the mechanics shop for my second semester of work experience! My goal is to learn even more about mechanics while supporting fellow students with various tasks around the shop. Plus, I’m excited about the opportunity to work on different projects independently.
