What does PE look like at WES?
All students K-4 receive PE instruction once every 6 days for 45 minutes. PE standards across all grade levels are:
demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns
apply knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance
maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and or fitness
exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others
recognize the value of physical activity
Quality PE instruction provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to support lifetime participation in a variety of physical activities that contribute to an active lifestyle. Physical Education provides building blocks for motor skill development an analysis, physical fitness, stress reduction, decision making and positive social skills.
