My brother and I have been playing hockey since we could walk. He was able to volunteer for the organization, but due to Covid, I was not able to volunteer, however, I wanted to help in another way. My mom forwarded me an email from the Condors, that they were in need of help. I didn't want to see such an amazing organization shut down, as they help so many people that ordinarily wouldn't be able to play the sport I love. I needed to research to see what they were all about and what their needs were. I went to multiple websites looking for information and emailed the director of the club. The California Condors is a hockey club for youth and adults with developmental disabilities. In 2006, the California Condors program was launched. The founders were Rita Eagle and her son, who has special needs. They came from Canada where her son played for a similar program. When they came to California they were looking for, but couldn't find, any teams that were open to people with disabilities. They founded their own team and it was slow at the start, however, it jumpstarted and became very popular. The kids and adults were loving playing. During Covid-19, it has been hard to keep the program running.
