Passion Project ‘21 - Reflection
1. What challenges did you face during the passion project process and how did you overcome them?
Some challenges I faced during the passion project were hoping I would have raised enough money, that it would actually make a change and not only be helpful for one day. Also, another challenge I faced was thinking of ways to make money for the Condors. I overcame this by finding a job and that would become my main source of income for them.
2. What skills did you gain or build upon throughout the passion project that you will be able to apply in high school?
One skill that I learned was taking initiative. I got a hold of one of the Founders and set up an interview looking to gain knowledge. I usually don’t take charge of doing things and the passion project really helped me learn about taking initiative and this skill will help me heavily throughout high school with talking to teachers and many other aspects.
3. What aspect of your passion project are you most proud of?
The aspect of my passion project that I am most proud of is the outcome and seeing all of my hard work come to life and see what changes I have made.
4. How well (or not well) did you manage your time for the passion project? What will you do differently the next time you are given a long-term independent project?
I think I managed my time pretty well, but when it came down to the actual work of gaining the money, I think I should have started a little bit earlier so I had more time to fundraise. The next time I have a long-term project , I will try to set my guidelines up a little stricter and try to follow them as best as I can because sometimes I get sidetracked and distracted.
5. What did you learn about yourself during the passion project process?
During this project, I realized how much I can make an impact on the community. Just being one person, I can affect a whole hockey team to keep them skating and having the time of their lives. I realized that I can do more good throughout and will likely pick up another project to help more people.
6. How did you feel about your passion project topic/problem before you worked on the passion project and how do you feel about it now after your passion project?
Before, I thought that this might be a long hard process and it might not be that fun. As it went on, I looked forward and saw how many people I could affect and that made me way more excited for the outcome and seeing my hard work pay off.
