Work Based Learning

At BFUHS we strive to support our students in finding success in many ways.  Among the Flexible Pathway options there are opportunities for students to participate in work-based learning experiences. A student at BFUHS may work with our Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Mrs. Waryas, at any point in their time here.  They can meet our local business owners and interview them to learn more about their work, or they can spend time shadowing a career that might be of interest to them.

Work-based learning experiences involve student interactions with industry or community professionals in real or simulated work environments that expose learners to postsecondary options, provide opportunities for skill development and proficiency attainment, and allow students to reinforce and deepen their school-based learning.  These opportunities particularly help students make the connection between academic principles and real world applications. For many, understanding “Why do I need to know this?” provides motivation for more learning.

If you or your child would like to learn more about a Work-Based Learning opportunity please contact Mrs. Waryas at heather.waryas@wnesu.com or call her at 802-460-1412.
