The only homework in 6th grade ELA is to read on a regular basis.

Ideally, students should read every day, but the minimum requirements include:
Pick an independent reading book that is the equivalent of a chapter book.
It can be fiction or non-fiction.
Read the book at least 4 days a week for at least 25 minutes per day.
When finished reading one book, get another book and continue the practice of reading almost daily.
By the end of the trimester, summarize 3 books that you have read.
A summary of fiction should include:
The title of the book
The main character(s) and the setting
The main problem.
Important events
The main solution
Paragraph format
A summary of nonfiction should include:
The title of the book
The main idea of the book
Subtopics and/or details related to the main idea
