BAGSO is made up of a board of officers that includes our president, vice president, treasurer, and event coordinator team. BAGSO officers are nominated and appointed to positions by their peers on a yearly basis so there are plenty of opportunities to serve multiple terms and gain experience in multiple roles. Serving on the board of officers not only helps to build your resume but allows for opportunities to gain skills related to effectively working with a team, communicating with multiple faculty members and other professionals, applying for funding for events such as colloquia and job panels, and much more.
The Behavior Analysis Graduate Student Organization (BAGSO) at Western Michigan University is an organization to promote the interests of Behavior Analysis graduate students at Western Michigan University. BAGSO serves as a liaison between graduate students and faculty members in the Behavior Analysis Program, assesses and addresses graduate student needs in the Behavior Analysis Program, plans professional and social enrichment opportunities for graduate students in the Department of Psychology, and encourages undergraduate involvement in research opportunities available through the Department of Psychology.
As an organization, we strive to create a fun, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere within the department. To do so, we work together as an organization to brainstorm fun and collaborative events such as door decorating contests, t-shirt design contests, holiday egg hunts, graduate student Olympics, and graduate student socials, just to name a few. We seek involvement from faculty and students by creating fun competition and asking for involvement in voting and nominating various labs or students to win prizes and contests. We continuously seek feedback from our department faculty, and students, to help create the most fun and engaging activities possible.
