The West Marshall Intermediate Band consists of our 6th Grade Instrumental musicians. It is a great opportunity to expand upon the skills students have built in Beginning Band. Intermediate Band focuses on building the skills necessary to advance into more difficult music. The Intermediate Band performs at 4 concerts annually.
6th Grade students rehearse every other day and participate in a weekly like-intstrument group lesson
The West Marshall Advanced Band rehearses is made up of 7th and 8th graders and rehearses every-other day during 6th hour. Showcasing their learning at 4 concerts annually, the West Marshall Middle School Band seeks to further student learning through playing fun, accessible music that fosters an appreciation for music.Â
Middle School students receive an individual or small group lesson once every week. All students are given a lesson assignment sheet to help them keep track of their progress throughout the quarter.
B-Day Band rehearses every-other day opposite of Advanced Band during 6th hour. This group consists of all students who are only enrolled in Band and not involved in choir. Also performing at four concerts annually, this ensemble performs different music than Intermediate Band, allowing for a separate musical experience!
Consisting of all interested 7th and 8th grade students, the Middle School Jazz Band rehearses from 7a - 8a on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The season runds October through March. Students involved explore the fundaments of improvisation and music from different eras of jazz, including but not limited to Swing, Rock, Funk, and Latin music. The group performs on two concerts annually.
