Grading Breakdown:
√ Completion homework/Participation: (10% of overall grade) This type of homework is based on student effort. If the student has the entire assignment done, he or she receives full credit. If one or more problems are not done, no credit is earned for that assignment.
√ Graded homework/Labs/Quizzes: (40% of overall grade) This type of homework is graded for accuracy and reinforces the major concepts/objectives in science. Labs are similar to graded homework as they are graded for accuracy and student comprehension of the hands-on activity. Quizzes are shortened version of tests, are usually 10-30 points.
√ Tests: (50% of overall grade) These are the chapter tests given following 2-5 lessons (usually 2-3 weeks of material). They range in point value between 50-80 points, and make up half of the total grade. Semester vocabulary tests are included in the overall “test”category.
