To start our school year, we reviewed map skills. Mrs. Doorneweerd taught us how to use Google My Maps as a final project. We had to search for places that we would like to see within the 48 states of our country. She taught us how to use a map scale to see how long and how many miles our road trip would be when visiting our sites. We then concluded our unit with a geocache race around our football complex. We had to use our iPads to find coordinates to the different caches for clues to answer a riddle.
Thank you, Mrs. Doorneweerd!!!
Below are pics of our geocache race.
To conclude our Mesopotamia unit, the students constructed marble runs through a ziggurat. We learned that a ziggurat is a Mesopotamian temple and is the largest building in a city-state. It's size was to please the gods so the people would have a good harvest. Mrs. Doorneweerd opened the MakerSpace room so we could use cardboard and hot glue to construct the runs. The goal was to have the marble start at the top of our structures and finish at the bottom. Here are the videos of the groups! Enjoy!
