**Remote learning is not expected, however this will remain up on the site in case it become necessary to learn from home.
Lessons in the core subjects will be taught “live”, both in the morning and afternoon. This will allow the kids time to process and put into practice what they have learned before moving onto independent practice work or other subjects. It will also allow me to gauge student learning in real time. Please note that since only core subjects will be taught on Zoom, attendance at the meetings will be important.

Students should prepare supplies before the Zoom lessons and these will be communicated each morning through Seesaw.
The students will be able to access specific assignments and links using Seesaw. This will include a variety of methods for assessing student understanding. All completed independent work will be submitted through Seesaw. These might include workbook pages for practice, or activities online. Too much screen time is developmentally not healthy for little ones for several reasons. I will be mindful of time spent on screens and will do my best to engage without depending too much on devices.
SUBJECTS FOR INDEPENDENT LEARNING:
Opening
Religion
Handwriting
Computer
Health
Map Skills / Social Studies/ Science
It is unrealistic to expect everyone to conform to one set schedule when most families have working parents and limited access to wifi simultaneously. The following subjects will be taught live daily and the subsequent independent assignments should be completed daily to maximize reinforcement. Daily school attendance will be taken during Zoom lessons:
Phonics / Grammar
Reading
Math
All other subjects can be completed at the convenience of the student and family and are due by 8pm Sundays. Late assignments are always accepted and points are not taken off. If for some reason it is a struggle for your family to balance school and home life, please let me know and I will understand. Some families want more time filled with academics, and others prefer less for other interests. My priority for the first graders is to teach them the core subjects since they are the skills needed for life.
